Hannah the Hermit?

When I first learned that my Human Design profile was a 6/2 - the Hermit and the Role Model - it didn’t resonate because I’m a naturally outgoing person. Lately, the Hermit card has appeared in my tarot readings, especially when I’ve asked about my purpose. (The universe isn’t always very subtle and it has a sense of humor!).

The Hermit is this wise, elder figure holding a lantern that doesn’t blaze like a Las Vegas billboard. Instead, it offers a subtle starry glow: just enough light to see the next step ahead. I’ve come to understand that the Hermit isn’t about withdrawing from the world, but about trusting your inner wisdom and allowing that inner light to guide you. That light is our soul.

In Human Design, a 6/2 lives life in thirds. The first third is all about experimenting and learning through trial and error. The second third is about integrating those lessons, which is where I am now. And the final third is about embodying the role model and being a mentor that shares wisdom with others. The 2 in my profile represents a natural gift… an innate skill that must be trusted.

As a coach, I now see the beauty of the Hermit archetype. By learning about myself and trusting my own light, I am then to hold the lantern for others. I can help them find their own light and trust it. It’s not about floodlights and certainty; it’s about embracing the wisdom that softly lights the way forward, one step at a time.

The Hermit is an invitation to trust your inner knowing. Your light, however subtle, is special and true. I look forward to more people discovering just how powerful that inner light can be and the joy that comes from following it.
